Bruxism/Grinding
Bruxism is the repetitive grinding and clenching of your teeth while you sleep. It can happen during the day as well. Bruxism can cause pain in the jaw, ear, face, and head and is considered both a medical and dental problem. This condition affects not only the teeth, but the head and area around the jaw.
Doctors and Dentists have different ideas of what causes Bruxism. Doctors believe it happens because of stress. Dentists think that a mis-alignment of teeth cause the grinding and clenching. Either way, treatment is needed as soon as possible to limit further damage to teeth. Bruxism can cause broken dentures, loss of teeth and other problems in the mouth, jaw, and face.
