The cost of veneers depends mainly on how many teeth are involved and on the details of your case. Your dentist also needs to check the health of your teeth and gums first, and your dental plan, if you have one, will affect what you pay out of pocket. No single price fits every smile, so the best next step is a consultation where our team can look at your situation and explain what applies to you.
At Pure Cypress Dentist, we do not list one price for every patient. Below is what usually changes the cost, how insurance and payment options may help, and how to get started.
What makes veneer treatment cost more or less?
Several factors shape the plan for each patient:
- The number of teeth. Treating one front tooth is a different plan than treating a full row of teeth.
- The condition of the tooth. A tooth that is chipped, cracked, or worn may need a different approach than a tooth that only needs a cosmetic change.
- Groundwork before veneers. If your gums or teeth need attention first, that care is part of the plan.
- Your goals. Some patients want a small change in shape or color. Others want to even out several front teeth, and that takes more planning.
- Digital planning and lab work. Each veneer is made to fit your teeth and shade, so the lab work is part of the overall plan.
Your dentist will explain which of these apply to you during your visit.
What is a veneer, and who is it for?
A veneer is a thin shell of porcelain made to fit the front surface of a tooth. Each shell is designed to match the shape and shade of your natural teeth. Veneers are a cosmetic choice, and they are not right for everyone.
People who ask about veneers often want a smile that looks more even or polished. Common reasons include a front tooth that is chipped, cracked, or worn down, small gaps between front teeth, stains that have not lightened with whitening, and front teeth that differ in length or outline. If you are not sure veneers fit your goals, you can ask for a second opinion. New patients at our office can receive a free second opinion.
You can learn more about the treatment on our Porcelain Veneers page.
How does the veneer process affect the plan?
Veneer treatment usually takes two office visits. At the first visit, your dentist prepares the tooth by removing a small amount of enamel, then records the shape of your teeth so a dental lab can make your veneers. We use high-resolution digital imaging for this step. It produces clear images and uses less radiation than traditional film x-rays.
At the second visit, your dentist checks how the veneers fit and what shade they are. Adjustments can be made before anything is permanent. Once you approve the result, the veneers are bonded in place.
Our office also uses iTero 3D scanning for clear aligner planning and 3D printed dental models. If you are thinking about Invisalign alongside veneers, Becky Martinez, our Clear Aligner Specialist, can talk through how alignment and veneers might work together. New patients can have a free Invisalign consultation.
Does insurance cover veneers?
Insurance coverage depends on your plan. Some dental plans treat cosmetic work differently from restorative care, and benefits can change from one year to the next. We cannot promise what any plan will pay, so it helps to review your benefits before you schedule treatment.
Our office honors all true dental insurance plans, including PPO, Indemnity, Medi-Cal, Denti-Cal, Smile California, and CalOptima dental plans. Coverage rules depend on the specific plan, so our team checks your benefits for you. We offer a complimentary insurance eligibility check, and our team can handle much of the paperwork.
If you do not have coverage for the treatment, or you want to spread out payments, we offer payment plans, other affordable payment options, and 0% financing. Our front office can help you find the option that fits your budget.
What should I expect after veneers are placed?
Most patients return to eating and their normal routines soon after the veneers are bonded. Your dentist will give you care instructions, which typically include brushing, flossing, and keeping up with regular checkups. Your dentist will tell you which steps apply to you.
If a veneer comes loose, chips, or feels uncomfortable, call our office so our team can check it. Dental emergencies can be seen the same day during office hours, and afterhours contact is available when needed.
